Na liturgia catรณlica, as cores dos paramentos variam de acordo com os tempos do ano litรบrgico. O branco, como o desta casula, รฉ usado nas festas de Cristo, de Nossa Senhora e dos santos nรฃo mรกrtires; o vermelho nas celebraรงรตes da Paixรฃo, do Espรญrito Santo e dos mรกrtires; o verde no Tempo Comum; e o roxo no Advento e na Quaresma.

Worn by the priest at mass, the chasuble has its origin in the Roman paenula, a wide outer garment that enveloped the body. Over the centuries it was progressively cut away at the sides, freeing the arms during the celebration.
In Catholic liturgy, the colours of the vestments change according to the seasons of the liturgical year. White, like that of this chasuble, is used for the feasts of Christ, of Our Lady and of saints who were not martyrs; red for the Passion, the Holy Spirit and the martyrs; green for Ordinary Time; and purple for Advent and Lent.
The decoration can also be read. Among the foliate motifs embroidered in gold thread on this 18th-century chasuble are ears of wheat, a symbol associated with the Eucharist.
