O IPB aprovou formalmente a proposta de transformação da instituição em Universidade, considerando reunidas as condições académicas, científicas, organizacionais e financeiras exigidas pelo Regime Jurídico das Instituições de Ensino Superior.

 A decisão foi aprovada por unanimidade no Conselho Geral, após parecer igualmente favorável do Conselho Permanente e do Conselho Técnico-Científico da instituição. 

Com mais de 10 000 estudantes, provenientes de mais de 50 nacionalidades, e uma forte aposta na investigação, inovação e cooperação internacional, o IPB entende que esta transformação representa o reconhecimento jurídico de uma realidade institucional já consolidada. 

O processo foi já submetido ao Ministério da Educação, Ciência e Inovação.

Segundo o Presidente do IPB, Orlando Rodrigues, “esta proposta não representa uma rutura com o percurso histórico da instituição, mas a sua evolução natural”.

IPB has formally approved the proposal to transform the institution into a university, considering that the academic, scientific, organisational, and financial conditions required by the Legal Framework for Higher Education Institutions have been fully met. 

The decision was unanimously approved by the General Council, following favourable opinions from the Permanent Council and the institution’s Technical and Scientific Council. 

With more than 10,000 students representing over 50 nationalities and a strong commitment to research, innovation, and international cooperation, IPB considers this transformation to be the legal recognition of an institutional reality already well established. 

IPB has already submitted the proposal to the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation. 

According to IPB President Orlando Rodrigues, “This proposal does not represent a break with the institution’s historical path, but rather its natural evolution.”
