O património geológico é uma das maiores riquezas naturais de Portugal, e o Geopark Terras de Cavaleiros, situado em pleno coração de Trás-os-Montes, é um excelente exemplo dessa geodiversidade. Integrado na Rede Europeia e Global de Geoparques da UNESCO, este geoparque abrange a totalidade do concelho de Macedo de Cavaleiros, numa área de 699 km², e conta com 14 251 habitantes.
A sua singularidade geológica está profundamente ligada à história da Terra, apresentando formações rochosas com mais de 540 milhões de anos. Entre os 43 geossítios identificados, destacam-se locais como as descontinuidades de Conrad e Moho, onde é possível visualizar rochas que constituem o interior do planeta Terra.

Earth and Geological Heritage: The Terras de Cavaleiros Geopark
Geological heritage is one of Portugal’s greatest natural treasures, and the Terras de Cavaleiros Geopark, located in the heart of Trás-os-Montes, is a prime example of this geodiversity. As part of the European and Global UNESCO Geoparks Network, this geopark covers the entire municipality of Macedo de Cavaleiros, with an area of 699 km² and a population of 14,251 inhabitants.
Its geological uniqueness is deeply connected to Earth's history, featuring rock formations that are over 540 million years old. Among the 43 identified geosites, the Conrad and Moho discontinuities stand out, where visitors can observe rocks that represent the Earth's interior.
