O Culto do Porco em Trás-os-Montes - Spyros Gerousis

"Pork culture in Trás-os-Montes" is a sensory media oriented video of a family group's pig killings and processing into traditional alheiras and chorizos. It is made from footage me and colleague Joao Meirinhos collected during December2014-January2015, while making a documentary film about life in the northern Portuguese village of São Martinho de Angueira. The upcoming film will be called "Chronicle of a Winter" and will deal with the endangered local Mirandese language and culture which draws its customs from the region's distant past. The video's lack of subtitles aims at highlighting the atmosphere and the sensorial aspects of the process' regional characteristics.
